A few degrees warmer. Time to do winter like Californians do: layer on the summer clothes, throw on a topper and scarf or hat and be done with it!
Today’s agenda in addition to work: get second set of vaccines in preparation for December trip to India — thus a visit to the Civic Center. Successful? No. Lots of contradicting information and ideas over at the Department of Public Health led to the nurse opting out of giving me the shot then telling me that I’m under-vaccinated for the trip.
What?!?!? So. not. happy. about. this.

You don’t want pneumonia…for weeks after the cough is gone….you will find the daily grind wears you out completely. Bed at 7:30 pm will seem reasonable to you. This is the first day post-illness I had enough energy to survive the office (though I had been working from home while sick). It was a challenge to force myself to stay up until 10 pm afterwards to catch Gossip Girl.

Can’t even tell you all the social invitations I’d turned down this fall due to pneumonia. Really you don’t want it. After the day in the suburbs, and a drive home across a flooded 101 in a torrential downpour, I braved the social life for an hour.

Day in the suburbs. The mission was to end up in San Jose and stock up on Dutch food, but somehow we found ourselves stopping at Sears with no idea why. The bigger stop was Ikea where we bought some open shelves and spice racks for our kitchen, drooled over our dream kitchen, and then did a little shopping at Eileen Fisher in my quest to stock up on winter clothes — both the comfy and the professional kind.
Btw, if you ever find yourself shopping for Dutch food in San Jose, look at the expiration date. The guy was selling sambal that had expired in July 2007.

It was an intuition. Kate Spade was calling my name. Had to go downtown that very second to do some pre-sale shopping. Good thing I did, as the 2 items I’d waited to buy on sale were already boxed up to be shipped off to an outlet. But luckily the sales associate unboxed them for me and sold them to me. Great customer service! Now if only there’d be a Kate Spade in the Bay Area.
No, I wasn’t really wearing Kate Spade when I heard the call. Life is like that sometimes.
